About

Hi y’all! My name is Seida Bacon, and I’m just pleased as punch that you found me here! I’m gonna tell you all about me and “my peeps” as my nephew says, so get somethin’ refreshin and put your feet up…

About Seida
I have worked as a waitress in diners all my life. I have now been at The Grenada Diner in the Lakewood section of Dallas, Texas for more than 20 years. I worked in several other diners, cafes and coffeehouses before I landed at the Grenada. I did get my high school diploma, and was all set to go to college… I even took a few courses at one of the community colleges in Dallas. I wanted my own career, and was learning to be a secretary (hey, it was the early 1970′s, and my options were limited.) But I soon found that I needed to work more at the diner to make enough money, and I eventually quit taking classes. But that is not to say I gave up! I love my job… it may not be as glamorous as Nashville, but it suits me fine. I earn a good living, and get to meet lots of interesting people.

I was born in Kaufman County, Texas (near Terrell) on October 31. I am not embarrassed to tell you that I am 55 years old. I think I look darned good for my age! I met my husband Bobby Earl Bacon in high school… more about him down below. Earl and I have been separated now for about 12 years… there’s a blog post or two about that. But we still aren’t technically divorced. That’s how I keep an eye on him. And after Earl, I never wanted to marry again anyway.

I like Country Music, especially the good ole’ classics like Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and such. I also like to travel around… mostly in Texas, although I did go up to see what all the fuss was about Cape Cod earlier this year. It was like going to a different country altogether!

I’m not very computer savvy, but my nephew Chad is teaching me all about that. I have a Facebook Page and a Facebook Fan Page, you can follow me on Twitter (whatever the hell that is!), and watch me on YouTube, too. I’m also very proud to own my own business, the BACON BITS BOUTIQUE which is a showcase of some designs I thought up. Send me email at “seida bacon at gmail dot com”.

About Chad
Chad Johnson is Seida’s nephew. (His mother is Sissy Johnson, Seida’s younger sister). He is 20 years old, and goes to college. He is an undeclared major, and has decided what to be when he grows up. Chad is gay, and recently came out of the closet to his mother and moved out of her house. He currently lives with friends in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas. He travels as often as his earnings allow, and has been to Provincetown several times. He is very popular at school, and everybody seems to love him. He likes to go out, dance, and be creative. Chad often helps Seida out with technology, and appears as a guest blogger from time to time. You can reach Chad on Facebook here or email him at “seidas nephew at yahoo dot com”.

About Robert Earl Bacon
Otherwise known as “Earl” or “Bobby Earl” is Seida’s husband. She often refers to him as her ex, although they are only legally separated, not divorced. He works in an auto-body shop and drinks beer. When he was only 15 years old, Earl lost one testicle and the ability to father children in a terrible mishap while riding a bull in the Mesquite rodeo. (Blog post.)

About Jay Thomson (the author)
Seida, and all the other characters in this blog are fictional creations of Jay Thomson. Jay is an artist, actor and author currently living in Philadelphia, PA. Frequently Asked Questions
Are you/Is Seida a drag queen?
No. Seida is merely a character written, and sometimes performed by Jay Thomson. She has no idea that she’s a man dressed up in drag, and if you ask her or comment about it, you will confuse her.

What are the differences between you and Seida?
Seida is older than I am, she’s female, and she works at a diner in Dallas. I live in Philadelphia. I don’t like country music as much as she does, And her hair is bigger.

When did you create Seida Bacon?
I created Seida Bacon (née Boeuf) in 2004. She spent much of her first five years in hibernation in my head though. I started blogging as Seida in the Spring of 2009, and created her Facebook page at that time as well.

Are the characters based on anybody?
All of the characters are fictional, and I suppose in a way they are all based on versions of myself. Chad is the closest to my younger self. Seida is a combination of myself and all my favorite diner waitresses I’ve met over the years. Most of the events described are real, and they either happened to me or to people I know.
