Had a very banal day today… It was my day off, so I slept in. I woke up my favorite way… To the smell of coffee and bacon being made for me ( for a change). Too bad it was not a new Beau making my breakfast (it was my roommates, who put up with my mess and rarely see me).
Later, I went out on a shopping excursion. TJ Maxx, a few thrift stores… Nothing too exciting. At the Methodist Church thrift, I was recognized by someone who must have a photographic memory. He walked up to me and said “were you that drag diner waitress at the Carnival parade this year?” (Two months ago). I was surprised since I was not in drag today, and I wasn’t even looking like myself today. That’s the Methodist Church thrift for you though… It’s one of the three hot social venues in wintertime Provincetown (the others being the Stop-n-Shop and the gym). That guy was funny too… He made some joke about meeting sober guys there since there was an A. A. meeting there at the same time. But I was still horrified from being recognized without my face on to say anything witty back. I must’ve just stood there with my mouth hanging open (it’s a church so just banish that dirty thought you just had)… At least I didn’t drool. I think. I left quickly before Anyone else spotted me.
It was a nice day for shopping the sales on Commercial street. There was enough rain to keep the few tourists away, but not enough to bother the locals. Devoid of the throngs of tourists, I could finally enjoy a favorite store I’d been wanting to see. They have the BEST Halloween decorations. Too bad I can’t afford any of it on my measly salary. However, I did treat myself to this little gem:
She’s a piggy diner waitress, just like me! Cute, huh? Meh… She was on sale, and I wanted to buy something small to show my appreciation for the shop (Forbidden Fruit, 173 Commercial St.). I loved the theatricality of the displays, and originality of the merchandise there. The website doesn’t do it justice at all. Go there NOW if you love Halloween (25% off sale). Only a few more days left before the high holidays!
Love ya, hon!
