I live out in the sticks in my double-wide, so I don’t get cable TV. I don’t mind most of the time… I watch my stories when I have the afternoon off, and the rest I can now watch online. (Thanks to my darling nephew Chad, who showed me how to do this. He’s such a helpful little gay goose.)
Well I jes’ loves to watch LOGO specials online. Not least because all the ads they air on cable are replaced (for now at least) by ads featuring the hunky Jack Mackenroth in nothin’ but a speedo! Logo sure knows how to keep it’s viewers’ attentions, don’t they? [Seen here, Jack is an accomplished fashion designer, athlete, and HIV/AIDS activist.]
And what special was I watching? Why, it was the Dragtastic comedy standup special featuring three of my all-time favorite queens: Jackie Beat, Miss Coco Peru, and Varla Jean Merman! It was hosted by Ongina, from season 1 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The girls were each hilarious, and each of their sets showcased their own talent in a unique way. As mistress of ceremonies, Ongina’s relative youth and inexperience showed–not that she was awful or anything, she just didn’t have the comedic timing or material that the featured performers all have. Jackie Beat does raunchy humor, Miss Coco is a wonderful story-teller, and Varla Jean a comedic songstress. Well worth watching!
